Darren Van Soye serves as ISD Corporation’s Manager of Software Development. His responsibilities include leading a team of software developers through the process of architecting, developing and testing leading-edge software systems. Mr. Van Soye has accumulated eight years of direct-line technology management, eight years of IT project management and 10 plus years of hands-on software development experience, including recent ASP.NET/C# 2008 experience. He has worked in both the aerospace, financial services and justice industries. Mr. Van Soye earned a B.S. in Computer Science and MBA from University of California, Irvine. He also holds PMP, ITIL and Scrum Master Certifications.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

ISD Corporation, Corona, CA                                                                                     2006-Present

 

ISD is a firm specializing in software and services to some of the largest counties in California including Riverside, San Bernardino and Sacramento.

 

Manager of Software Development (2006-Present)

·         While reporting directly to the CEO, stabilized a team of nine by reorganizing teams, redefining roles, reprioritizing work, developing annual performance plans, instituting a hiring policy and establishing meeting cadence.

·         Rebranded an ASP.NET 3.5/C# 2008 web application built for the Superior Court of California. Created new master pages, skins and style sheets. Developed new web page.  Fixed bugs.

·         Successfully managed a Department of Child Support Services contract with Superior Court of California. Practiced scope management through detailed requirements and a newly-defined change management process. These actions lowered risk and resulted in incremental revenue to ISD.

·         Grew EBITDA of ePay-it site by 100% in 12 months through platform stabilization, financial justification, competitive analysis, feature augmentation, project management and talent acquisition.

·         Implemented Agile (Scrum) development methodology for all court-based projects.

·         Built Innovation Funnel process to capture new employee-submitted product ideas. Effort included website, defined process and templates.

 

Experian, Costa Mesa, CA                                                                                              1989-2006

 

Experian is a global information services company, dedicated to helping organizations and consumers make commercial and financial decisions with greater confidence and control.

 

Sr. IT Manager, Systems Integration & Architecture (2000-2006)

·         While reporting to the VP of Technology, improved customer service and cut cost by directly managing the six-person team responsible for the selection, implementation, support and rollout of new enterprise infrastructure.

·         Implemented company’s Internet-facing system by leading team through the development process. This project included the development of a new web-based account administration application (written in Java) on top of RSA ClearTrust.  Managed professional services provided by two vendors.  Technologies: Sun Enterprise 220 & 440, Solaris, RSA ClearTrust, iPlanet Web Server, BEA WebLogic Application Server, Oracle DB, Veritas, HTML, JSP, JavaScript.

·         Led the effort to select and implement Interwoven TeamSite to store the content of the corporate website (www.experian.com) by building requirements and coordinating the selection process.  In less than a year, the system stored over 2,500 documents and supported over 140 users.  Documented improved onboarding process using “swim lane” (process flow) diagrams.  Technologies: Sun 450, Solaris, Interwoven TeamSite, Visio.

·         Improved company’s security posture by leading the initiative to establish third-party security assessments for all newly acquired companies.  Managed the schedule, risk plan, budget, vendors and resources for six actual assessments.  Provided weekly status to PMO.  Presented detailed status update at executive-level project reviews.  Technologies: Ethical hacking.

·         Led development of Experian’s new contact center strategy by developing a three-phase migration roadmap to from Meridian Max to Cisco IPCC Enterprise.  Led effort to select integrator including the development and issuance of the RFP to three vendors, consolidation of responses, selection of finalist and management of vendor during execution.  Technologies: HP Servers, Windows Server 2003, Cisco IPCC Enterprise.

·         Relaunched enterprise architecture effort by personally meeting with international representatives, collaborating on high-level architecture domains, developing dashboards and scheduling regular meetings.

·         Supported business unit’s offshore initiative by representing IT in India during the onsite evaluation of three vendors and building the final (approved) IT budget.

·         Led due diligence for foreign credit bureau by locating data center hosting providers, developing an RFP and providing financial analysis to the M&A team for inclusion in buy plan.

·         Lowered operating cost related to newly acquired companies by leading the effort to develop IT integration strategy.  Collaborated with counterparts in other countries, PMO and executive management.  Documented process using “swim lane” (process flow) diagrams.

 

Product Manager, Credit Services Product Marketing (1999-2000)

·         Successfully cut project duration in half without skipping steps for batch credit trending product called Trend View by using Rapid Application Development (RAD) methodology.  Technologies: IBM-Compatible Mainframe, MVS/ESA, JCL, CICS, DB2, C.

·         Launched second product that leveraged data from a new strategic partner called Cross View by developing marketing and business plans, drafting product sheet, reviewing press releases and crafting web pages.  Technologies: IBM-Compatible Mainframe, MVS/ESA, CICS, C.

 

Project Manager, File One Development (1997-1999)

·         Added support for new reporting format by managing the $7.5M Metro 2 credit reporting project consisting of over 200 analysts, programmers, testers and support personnel.  Technologies: IBM-Compatible Mainframe, MVS/ESA, JCL, DB2.

·         Saved millions in maintenance and eliminated three non-compliant vendor packages.  Technologies: IBM-Compatible Mainframe, MVS/ESA, JCL, Platinum Log Analyzer, BMC Log Master, Oracle Gateway, DB2 Connect, Control-M, OPC

·         Maintained Experian’s ability to sell credit reports in Colorado by leading the project that met the requirements of the Colorado Credit Reporting Act.  Technologies: IBM-Compatible Mainframe, MVS/ESA, JCL.

·         Saved $2M and improved the reliability of the credit reporting system by rehosting two key subsystems from UNIX/Oracle environment to MVS/DB2.  Technologies: IBM-Compatible Mainframe, MVS/ESA, JCL, DB2, NCR MPP, UNIX, Oracle DB.

 

Operations Supervisor, Client Services (1993-1997)

·         Supported $12M in revenue by simultaneously managing two diverse teams (14 employees) who delivered complex credit-based services to the financial industry. 

·         Quadrupled analyst productivity for jobs targeting intermediate financial institutions by leading the development and rollout a new product called Smart Prescreen.  Product hit $1M in revenue in just 7 months.  Product derivatives quickly followed.  Technologies: Dell Desktops, Windows, Visual Basic, SQL Server.

·         Participated in year-long reengineering effort by capturing and analyzing metrics surrounding errors, reruns and on-time performance.  Personally presented portion of plan to executive management.

 

Programmer, Client Services Development (1989-1993)

·         Delivered new mainframe credit evaluation system by designing, coding and testing as part of a team of three.  Technologies: Assembler, COBOL II, IBM-Compatible Mainframe, JCL, MVS/XA

·         Tripled the throughput of a mainframe credit reporting system as part of tiger team.  Technologies: IBM-Compatible Mainframe, Assembler.
